Cosheston Pill (Westward) 8.49pm 20th May
Saturday 21st May
Started working on Cosheston Pill (Westward) drawing out in charcoal and graphite then blocked out the darks with waste paint. I just need to scale up techniques as I’m working on a bigger canvas.
Sunday 22nd May
Introduced colour into Cosheston Pill looking West. Enjoyed it but it took a lot more paint than usual (stands to reason with a bigger canvas). I need to keep colour discipline as I tighten it up.
Monday 23rd May
Spent a couple of hours on large Cosheston Pill canvas, it is turning into a study using a triad of secondary colours – orange, violet and green, with violet dominant?
Thursday 26th May
Continued to tinker with Cosheston Pill (Westward) got to a point where I didn’t think I was improving it. I still want it to look like a painting so left some broad brush work. It did turn out to be a secondary colour triadic exercise, also used complementaries in the shadows. Took some photos but it looks very different in real life as the large canvas is quite imposing. Enjoyed working on a large canvas again.
